I have noticed today on the golf course the buds are starting to open and form into a leaf on the trees. The daffadils look the best they ever been and been one of the best years for daffadils so I been told by my Mums freind today as its not been too hot or too cold so the daffs are lasting longer then usual.

Easter weekend means the start of Spring the leaves are forming on the willow and silver birches already and cherry blossom is also out. I love this time of the year when the blossom comes out on the trees.

Happy Easter everyone.

I've been out along the cycle path along the River Inn today - temperatures up in the middle 20s (22 -25°C). Real Spring weather with all the trees budding, wood anenomes, primulas, wood violets, all flowering. The trees are budding well and the greens are all fresh. The wild garlic (Bärlauch) is starting to come into leaf and you could smell it just - give it a week or two and it will be ready to pick for making soups and salad dressings with.

I saw my first ever wild beaver and its "dam" on one of the drainage canals next to the river. This pair had been very busy felling trees in the immediate area of the dam. The local farmers are angry about the damage to their fruit trees and hedges, but the animals are part of a re-stocking programme and are strictly protected. I was amazed at the size of some of the trees felled.

I did about 40km in glorious sunshine on my bike, all on cycle paths no roads at all. Tomorrow I am going to Salzburg for the Easter Mass in the cathedral. They are singing Hayden's Nelson Mass as a part of the service, one of my favourite pieces and one I have sung many times. Afterwards my landlady and I are going to have lunch in a Gasthof in the countryside. Should be another glorious day with temperatures up in the mid 20s°C

This is my last spring post as all the leaves on the trees are out and still got that nice fresh green colour. The grass on the golf course is growing so fast that we finding it hard to keep on top of the mowing but enjoy my job this time of the year, summer is just around the corner.

What can we do to stop the birds singing away their mating calls at 0430 every morning - they should stop in bed a little longer  ;D

Shut the window and block out their noise.

Asparagus sold straight from the farm just up the road.  Truly a late spring treat!
