'Small' Meniscus tear & Bone Contusion

My MRI indicated a small meniscus tear on medial meniscus (inside) and a bone contusion on the posterior lateral tibuial plateau (outside).  Doc wants to go in for the tear, but says there is nothing to do with the contusion.  It isn't the tear that hurts or seems to lock up.  When my knee locks up or gives out, it feels like the outer knee letting go.  I am not looking forward to surgery if it's not even going to address the part that hurts.  How can I be sure it's worth going in?

When you have a loose bodypiece in your knee which floats around and make your knee lock you get damages on the cartilage in your knee and that can give you problems later on in life giving you athritis. There for you need getting this out.

hey janss, sorry to hear of your injury.

after an injury, it can take 2-3 months for the knee to sort itself out. There is some light rehab you can do to strengthen the muscles to help alleviate the pressure on your knee. A good PT can help.

After a couple months, if you continue to be in pain, with locking or instability, surgery may help.
