TTT vs TTO?
« on: February 22, 2006, 02:50:29 AM »
Hi everyone,
I know this may sounds like a stupid question but what is the difference between a TTT and a TTO?  I was told the other day by the nurse that I am scheduled for a TTT.  She will not send me info on teh surgery which is really making me anoyed.  Since all I know about the surgery is what I read of line.  I would kinda like to hear from ym fr. wht the heck he is planning on doing before he does it but I guess I will have to wait!  So my question is really is there a difference and if so what is it?  THANKS!

TTT- tibial tubercle transfer.   TTO- tibial tubercle osteotomy.  Both are acronyms for a distal realignment surgery involving the repositioning of the bony bump where the patella tendon is attached. There are several types of these procedures. (See for http://www.kneehippain.com/patient/pain/surgery.html for more info.) You should ask your surgeon which type he intends to do.
