What to wear?
« on: March 27, 2003, 08:55:44 PM »
Hello.  My mother is leaving the hospital soon and we have no idea what she can wear.  She has one of those large titanium cages over her knee.  How do you get underpants on?  What has worked best for you?  Any advice is appreciated.

rubykate,
As to undies try cutting the offending side with a pair of scissors and attachint velcro so that they can be pulled up the OK leg and velcro'ed on the leg in the external fixator (name for that cage thing). as to pants and outwear a skirt (long to prevent freexing) or tackpants (the kind with snaps up the legs) so that you can undo the snaps to get the pants over the fixator and then snap the lower ones together under it to help keep her warm.
This is my suggestions, what I could think of in a few minutes.
Hope this helps and hope your Mum feels better soon.
