what does subluxation feel llike?

I know that this is a tough question but my knee has been doing this weird thing for a few weeks and I wonder if it is partially subluxing. I am scheduled for open LOA and PKR next wednesday so I will find out then if there other problems in there but this sensation has been bothering me. My husband seems to think that I have further damaged my knee in the last few months when I have fallen (a few times). I have had much increased pain in the last few months, which drove me back to the OS and now back to the OR. I also am having medial plica problems, could this be responsible for this strange subluxing sensation?
any ideas or thoughts welcome.

I have both fully dislocating and partial subluxing patells. Usually during a partial subluxation you get the sensation that your knee cap had moved out of its socket and poped back in very quickly, usually afterward I have always experienced a knee instability problem where it feels like my knee is very week. If the subluxation is severe enough sometimes you might end up falling like you would in a full-blown dislocation.....however there have been quite a few instances when during a partial subluxation i've been able to save myself from falling.
Sorry I do not know of medial plica problems could cause this or not, maybe someone else will.

Thanks for the reply. My knee feels like the patella jumps out of its groove for just a second and then pops back in. It doesnt hurt, just feels strange. I fall because my knee gives way on me . I have never had a dislocation (thank goodness).

Missy,
Seems different for everyone.
My knees slip medially everytime I stand up. That doesn't usually hurt, it's when I start to walk that my problems begin. The patella is always in the wrong place & that creates pain. Sometimes though while walking my patella gets unstable especially if I make a cutting-type move (turning around) and I have to stop immediately or I'll fall down. It just feels like the knee will collapse under me - it's a very unsettling event.
Bracing has really helped this condition though, for me. ~Shade
