Burning pain in knee
« on: January 24, 2006, 03:56:10 PM »
Hi all!

I've developed a nagging burning pain just under the patella.I had a ACL reconstruction (PTG) about 12 years ago, and some trouble about three years ago where the knee swelled up after some excercise, but no real trouble since. This seems to have developed over the last week or so and seems to be increasing in severity and lenth. It was OK after a nights sleep, but then begins again after I've been up and about for a while.
My immediate thought is the start of arthritis???

Burning pain doesn't always have to be arthritis. Do you mean *underneath* the patella (meaning behind the kneecap) or *below* the patella? It could be that you have tendonitis. I have no idea, but I do think you should see a doctor about it so that you'll know how to treat the pain.

Good luck!

No it is below the patella, in the lower patella tendon area. Funnily enough it seems to have calmed down since I put this post on!!! ;D
