Getting nervous - OS appt. tomorrow...
« on: January 22, 2006, 07:38:58 PM »
Hello everyone

I feel very lucky that I have been seen so quickly by the hospital in my area, and have had an MRI etc. already.  I am due to see the knee OS tomorrow afternoon. Well, it'll probably be a registrar (intern) I guess. Having read lots of posts on here, I am getting quite nervous that they will say there's nothing wrong etc. and leave it there.

I know that one Orth. Dr has referred me because he thinks there's a lot not right but he wasn't a knee specialist. Then I am really terrified that the OS will say that I need to have surgery etc. Basically I am nervous! :'( I have written questions down and a summary of my problems/pain so that I don't forget anything. Feels like I'm doing an exam!

I think it's worse cos I have to go on my own. Hubby at work and only 1 car. I also used to run everything past my Mum as she had some medical knowledge but she passed away in November so I feel a bit lost there too.

Generally feeling sorry for myself tonight, thanks to anyone who listened!

First of all, I am sorry for the loss of your mom. I am sure that was very difficult for you.

YOur nervousness is really natural. I have been seeing my OS for 4 yrs and I am a nervous wreck EVERYTIME that I have to see him. I am sure you could find my posts throughout the board saying how nervous I was about every appt.

You seem  to be doing everything right. The list is very important because most of us get nervous and forget some of the symptoms or questions that we want to share with the doctors.

Good luck. I hope that youo hear what you want to hear from your appt.
