Wedge or Dome HTO
« on: January 06, 2006, 06:12:20 AM »
I am considering having HTO to both my knees to delay the full knee replacement. My questions are:
What are the dissadvantages / advantages over Wedge and Dome HTO?
Does either HTO have a risk for Full Knee replacement Op in the future"
Thanks

Toon,

Why is your doctor recommending HTO?? Is it an alignment issue? Are you bone on bone in the medial or lateral sides ? I am not sure about the difference in wedge or dome. I had a closing wedge femoral osteotomy. I am told I will still be having replacement in 10 to 15 years, but I was severe bone on bone in the lateral side. I had also developed a severe valgus deformity. I am also curious what is the doctor recommending.

Good Luck to you, Kat
