Thanks for writing Missy!

All 5 of mine played but she's the one who fell in love with the game. Even though she is a good player there is a lot of competition these days. She wants to play in college and after if possible.
Her biggest problem is going to be not getting injured again. Until she hurt her knee, we had no idea that almost 40% more women athletes over men tear their ACL's and other parts in their knees. We pretty much took knees for granted, like they'd always be there working for us. Boy, have I learned alot!

She has warm up stretches designed specifically for women that she does now before any kind of workout. She's also working to strength all the parts of her legs. It seems like her quads were stronger than the hams and the PT said that can put stress on the knees.
One thing that her OS noticed and mentioned to us was that she hyperextends her knees and that puts her at risk. But he didn't say what she can do to prevent that. Her injured knee doesn't hyperextend right now, partly because of the rehab, plus the brace she wears when playing won't let her. But her left knee still does. So I'm a little concerned that she might injure that knee, esp. since she's become pretty good playing with her left to compensate for the right.
Oh well, life goes on and another year is upon us. Here's hoping to a healthier New Year for all! Kitty
