Tomorrow is my first shot
« on: December 22, 2005, 09:51:08 PM »
Tomorrow is my first SUpartz shot. After reading more messages here, I'm getting nervous! Worried about pain in the injection site and an allergic reaction! Ayayayayayayaya~
Think of me at 3:20 tomorrow afternoon!

Hi Caroline,

I will be thinking positive thoughts with you tomorrow!  You will do great and the shots will really help (no need to wait until tomorrow to start thinking positive thoughts).

Take care,
Patty

Caroline,

The injections are just a minor annoyance.  You can hardly feel them.  Most people do not have reactions to these products.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing.  This might be the relief you have been waiting for. ~Shade

I sure hope to find relief. It doesn't help when your knee hurts so you walk funny and as a result, your hips start to ache! I have no hip issues except when I walk on days my knee is bothering me!
I gave my husband directions that if I have trouble breathing, to give me a Tylenol PM as it has benadryl in it and take me to the ER! LOL! He's just excited because I'm not having surgery as we had originally thought might happen-when the doctor thought it was my meniscus again.

I survived my shot. Terrible traffic on the way to the doctor's office made me think I was going to be late but I got there in time. The shot took about 30 seconds total. I don't think I got a numbing agent because I defnitely felt the needle (it wasn't too bad)  but he did clean the injection site with betadine and told me to look away while he did the actual shot! So far there is nothing weird going on. I still have the bandaid on where the shot was and I'll probably take it off soon.
Next shot will be next Friday.

Caroline,

Sure hope you manage to get some relief from these injections.  I actually thought for awhile that I was getting some relief, but the pain is back again with a vengence - so if I did get any relief it sure needs to be for longer than a week....  Might be the product they used, I'm not sure.
Hope to hear that you have good results.....

I'm hoping I'll get some results. Next shot will see...... Too bad you didn't get much results or at least long lasting results.
I do have a quick question for those who have had the shots. I got a small bruise where the injection was given. Is this the usual thing or is it just my low platelets  ??? It's not very big  (about 1" at most diameter with the injection spots in the middle) but it's definitely there.
In the meantime, I think some of some degeneration noticed in my neck about 3.5 years ago is getting worse. My neck ached badly yesterday (especially while it was raining) with pain going from the base of my skull up to my sinuses and my temples-=I keep thinking the pain above my neck is referred pain from my neck. I know I get referred pain from my arthritic shoulders to right at the top of my ribs so I think this may be referred pain. In any event, I'm planning to mention it to my orthopedist on Friday while there for shot #2.

Caroline,

I also got a small bruise where the needle was injected.  I iced the area and that helped.  Good luck....

Not so much glad to hear you also had a bruise, but I'm glad to hear someone else had one, and it wasn't just me with my low platelets (where I get bruises more easily than most people)! May use some ice if I need to some time.
Thanks for the info.:)
