patient web site - UK

I have found this web site very useful if you are on the NHS in the UK:
www.drfoster.co.uk

You can use it to find an appropriate specialist or hospital. You can check the hospital ratings, and see how many procedures they do,.
LEFT KNEE: ACL and medial meniscal tear Sept 05.
Arthroscopy Jan 06.
Hamstring ACLR Apr 06.

RIGHT KNEE: meniscal tear 2008. Partial meniscectomy 2008 and again 2009.

this is a really handy site - thanks for sharing it!

those waiting periods for NHS hospitals are pretty depressing - i just called to chase a different hospital about a second opinion referral from my GP; lucky I did as they said they hadn't even received it!   Two weeks wasted already...

wow that's an amazing website!
Have found my consultant and his waiting times are LONG.

Realise how lucky I am, because it's law or something that the NHS has to offer you a consultation within 17 weeks I think of you being referred, and if they can't they have to send you to a private hospital. Well they couldn't fit me in, so I am going to a private hospital now, and it's so good, because although I had a really long wait initially everything is happening really fast now. And I don't have to pay the fees or anything which is a good job!

Makes me wonder though, the consultant who I am seeing also works for 2 NHS hospitals, so it's no wonder the lists are so long if the consultants split their time between private and NHS. I can see the same consultant who has an NHS wait of 4 months in under a week in the private hospital.

I found DrFoster very useful ...

1 - I managed to transfer my appointment with my OS from my local Hospital to another Hospital about 20 miles away where his waiting list was much, much shorter than at my local and more popular Hospital!   (plus average wait in Outpatients at my local Hospital is several hours - the more rural Hospital kept me waiting about 10 mins!!!!)

2 - great ammunition when complaining about original Surgeon - DrFoster informed me that he had only been a Surgeon for a few years and was a Shoulder specialist!!!!

Management at local Hospital got very grumpy when I mentioned Dr.Foster!  ;D ;D ;D

No plans for the future! :-/
