What's up with knee?
« on: December 10, 2005, 12:42:14 PM »
I'm new to the list.  I started having pain in my left knee area after a 0.5 Marathon about 2.5 months ago.  I don't know what I did to cause it.  Pain is primariily while squating.  I find it hard to put full weight on the knee when getting up from a squat.  OK bending, walking, climbing stairs, swiming, etc  (stayed away from running)  Finally went to a doc since it was not getting better. Recently saw a OS, who suspects a torn medial meniscus.  MRI scheduled for next week.  I've noticed that after a hot bath, I can squat fine. Do others notice this? Is running over for me?   ???  Surgey sounds pretty scary ...

What did the doc tell you, rehab or surgery or what ?
Maybe a second opinion could be something if you hesitate about surgery.
Some meniscus tears can heal themselves but not all.
Further down this site you have a special section for meniscus injuries, maybe you should check this out.
A meniscus tear doesn't mean that running is over.

Surgery 6 times left knee torn meniscus, RSDS,chondromalacia, nervdamage cause constant nervpain, chronic inflamm.
Spinaldamage wheeler 100%.
Right knee damaged aug-06, use brace surgery 4/9-07.LCL tear.
