« on: November 11, 2005, 08:45:45 PM »
Hi there,
been away from here for a while, consultants (NHS) have been umming and arring over my knee for months and have now decided to that I need another athroscopy to trim the fat pad. Has anybody had this done? What is the recovery time like etc?

Hey Wimple !!

Nice seeing you around !! I have done that and recovery time was as a meniscectomy.
It's quite simple procedure. You will be back in no time.
So you are still struggling with knees ?
Well, it's nice to see you anyway !!
Good luck if you go ahead with surgery !! Feel free ask if you have questions.

Check out the soft tissue healing problems section.  Most of us posting about 'lysis of adhesions' have had the fat pad trimmed.  You can also look up 'fat pad fibrosis' and related words.

Good luck...sorry to see you back if it means that your knee is hurting.

Many thanks, will have a look at those other sections. Knee has never really stopped hurting, just got the the run around from the NHS which means its now 2 and a half years since my original injury - had an athroscopy done in July last year where the plica was removed, fell again in october last year, suspected tibial plateau fracture, then got passed between OS, physiotherapy and registrar, steroid injections that didn't work for long enough, MRI, more steroid injections which still didn't work and then this decision that the fat pad needed to be trimmed, currently on another waiting list for that! So... hopefully by next year I will be able to kneel down and sit on the floor again!!
