Alternative to Steri-strips/adhesive? Surgery in 10 days!
« on: November 04, 2013, 01:36:02 AM »
Just wondering if anyone has used or knows of an alternative? Last surgery I blistered up from them. I'm guessing it was from the adhesive. I wouldn't be opposed to regular stitches if that is the only option. I would prefer the pain of getting stitches out to have to deal with painful oozing blisters again.

Thanks for any answers :). My next TTO is coming up very soon so thinking of all my pre-op questions for my appt.

I should think this is a question for your surgeon, certainly something you should discuss with them.  They'll have different preferences for and techniques for different surgeries, be it nylon stitches, staples, dissolving stuff, steri-strips

Good luck :)

Yeah, as I mentioned above, I am thinking of all of my questions for my surgeon for my upcoming pre-op appt. Was just curious if anyone knew of alternatives because they have had to use them for the same reason. I did a quick search last night but mostly found people that reported blisters like mine.

Thank you!

just for reference, in case anyone wants to know, my OS said they just won't put steri strips on this time. They use surgical glue to close and steri strips are precaution but I won't get them this time due to the blistering it causes me.
