HTO
« on: November 02, 2005, 07:00:10 PM »
I am needing advice.  My husband is scheduled for an HTO on Tuesday the 8th of Nov.  We are both very scared.  He has had three meniscual repairs and now has 15 percent cartlidge left.  I seem to hear a lot of discouraging info and I am wondering if anyone has had good results and what should we expect for recovery?  He has been off of work for 17 months so far.  He was hurt on the job and can't return to work becasue he stands on his feet 12 hours a day.  Anyone have a encouraging word? Thanks in advance.
Kim

Hi,

Have not heard negative things about osteotomy surgery.  Actually, I have heard that many people have had good results from having their knee unloaded..... It is a big open procedure and the first couple of weeks are going to be tough, but think things get better after that.....

The rehab from any surgery can be tough, but if he gets rid of the pain it is certainly worth it.

Good luck,
