chondromalacia translates to softening of the articular cartilage.  Sometimes a dr. will tell you you have chondromalacia patella, other times just chondromalacia.  Some OS's call it "pre-arthritis".  It is measured on a 4 point scale.  1 means it is soft, but still there, 4 means the cartilage has worn all the way down to the bone.  Some people have these degenerative changes throughout the knee, others have focal lesions.  It's the difference between a pothole, and a road that just needs to be completely repaved.

ACI was supposed to be 2/21/06.  On 6/29/06 Insurance co said have another scope, and if it still looks good, they'll ok the ACI.
