New...and have questions
« on: October 27, 2005, 07:04:21 PM »
Hi All,

I have a torn ACL and am waiting for an ACL reconstruction.  I have one month of waiting to go.  I am very nervous!!!!!!!  I have been told that after the reconstruction that I will be able to play sports again without the assistance of a brace.  (I have been wearing a Don Joy Custom Brace for 5 years).  I was wondering if in fact this is true?  Is it really like getting a new knee???  Also, I would like to know how long it took for you all to start driving again?  I would hate to be immobile for any length of time.

I just can't wait to be able to play sports and not have to worry about my knee giving out.  Any advise you can offer about how to prepare for the big day would be appreciated.
