NBA's Amare Stoudemire gets microfracture
« on: October 20, 2005, 08:40:25 AM »
Looks like another big name NBA player just had microfracture. He is only 23 years old and they say the defect is 8mm by 10mm, so they are optimistic that he could be playing again in 4 months. We'll see. They are also optimistic because his surgeon said Stoudemire's lesion does not come in contact with the knee until the knee is flexed at 50 degrees. This is interesting to me because my operation report says "as the knee was flexed to around 50 degrees, an anterior aspect of a runner-like defect of the medial femoral condyle was discovered." I hope he has better luck than me after 6 months.

4/12/05 Arthroscopy: plica removal and medial femoral condyle microfracture (2 cm^2)
11/9/05 Arthroscopy: complete removal of plica, removal of scar tissue on fat pad behind patella tendon and on medial side.
