Sea food from the Thames

Here are some shell-fish prices to compare with your market prices. Lobsters are 10 a pound, oysters are 50p each, shallops 1.00 each, large tiger prawns are  12.50p a pound, small tiger prawns 10.50 a pound,  crabs are from 3.00 to 6.00 each. filled half pint  metal mugs, scampi tails 3.00 per mug, brown  shrimps  1.30 per mug, pink shrimps 80p per mug, prawns
2.20  per mug, whelks 1.20 per mug and cockles 1.40 a mug.  Cockles were traditionally eaten from miniature  white  plates, seasoned with ground white pepper and brown
malt vinegar. Mussels  are 1.00 per quarter pint,  they  have been de-shelled and have been soak in brine.  But  you can buy live mussels today and they are quite  cheap, but they are not wild they have been farmed.  The only live shell-fish we have are crabs or  lobsters. Cooked cod roe is 4.50 per pound. A few miles west of Westcliff there is Leigh on Sea, it's
famous for its shell fish. Here is the website  address  of the new, Boat-Yard restaurant at Leigh on sea.  It's  a very good website. It's the place to be seen, you would love it. The average cost of a meal at this
restaurant  is 30 ahead.
