still in pain when walking
« on: September 21, 2005, 12:15:36 PM »
HI everybody  Had surgery in june to fix cartilage and take out two bone chips, under patella. Still swelling and very sore when putting weight on. My orginial OS is gone from the practice and am waiting for the other one to come in. I ice at night and wear a brace and ace sleeve to keep swelling down during the day. Unfortunlly I work about 50 hour or more per week. Should i go see somebody else (I really like this practice and know somebody there personally but he is a hand surg.) Have not called him to see if he can tell me somebody else to see or not. Just need some help making decision. Thanks  in advance.

Oldfogy,

Well, that is too bad about your doctor leaving the practice.  I'd make another call and see if they are going  to be getting a knee specialist.  If the answer is no - well, you really have not choice but to move on.  That really sucks when you get used to a place......Did your other doc not refer you on to someone else??  I thought they usually did this.

Sorry that you have been having weight-bearing pain again and swelling, but like you say you put in alot of hours at work.....

Good luck in the doctor hunt.

Oldfogy,

I agree with Shade. If there's no knee specialist in the practice now that you can see, you'd probably do best to see one outside that practice. If you are in pain now, you sure don't want to wait too long to find an OS who can help you.

If there isn't another knee specialist currently in that practice, is there one there who could recommend a knee doctor in the area?

Good luck with your search.

Hi Oldfogy,
Ditto to what Shade and Liz said.  Call your friend, the hand surgeon, and see if he or someone he knows can recommend a good knee specialist.  I hope you can find a new OS soon and he can help with the knee.  And right after you see the new OS, treat yourself to a    ;)

Take care,
Patty

Another one agreeing with the rest, you need to find a OS specializing in knees.  Call the clinic and see if they will be getting a new knee OS, if yes- when.   If there will be a wait or they are not getting a knee OS the decision is made for you,

Good Luck!  Hope you can see someone soon and he can help you!
