More bad news!! When will it ever end??
« on: September 16, 2005, 08:35:59 PM »
Hi everyone,

I havent been very active on the boards lately and Im really sorry for not giving more encouragement to those who need it.
I have been busy with starting school and dealing with my knee.

I was having some problems and went for an MRI on 8-29-05. I had my follow up apointment yesterday and got some bad news. The OATS plug on my medial femoral chondyle is loose and unstable. This is the OATS that was done with my tissue the autograft. I have two allograft plugs on the lateral side.  :-\

OS says he can go in with a scope and try to pin the graft back up. This pin will dissolve over time hopefully giving the graft time to fill in. So I will have that done on Sept 28th. I was told not to wait too long as the longer I wait the more I can damage the graft.  >:(

Im really depressed number one that the graft is giving me trouble but also that the original OS that did my OATS is no longer with my insurance and I can no longer see him.  :'(

Just seems like I cant catch a break!!!
Thanks for listening

Paulette,

OMG I am so sorry that this happened.  Hope that this surgery will work on the 28th and you will have not further problems with your OATS procedure.

Please keep us updated

Good luck,

Shade

Paulette,

So sorry to hear the graft is unstable.  I'm glad you've been given an option though and hopefully the pin will do the trick.

We sure become attached to the docs who help us...it's a shame you can't see your original OS, but have faith this one can help you too!

Paulette,

I'm awful sorry the graft from your OATS procedure is loose and that you'll be undergoing more surgery to salvage it. I can surely relate to the pain of loosing an OS you trust and depend on. I hope you'll develop a trusting relationship with the new doctor, and everythnig goes well for you on the 28th.

Please remember - we are behind you, and are here to encourage and support you every step of the way.

Paulette,

That just sucks that your plug is loose and unstable!!  I feel for you.  Good luck with the surgery on the 28th!!!  I hope that the pin solves the problem and that you end up loving your new OS.  Be sure to let us know how everything turns out.
