I can run!!!
« on: August 10, 2005, 04:30:34 AM »
So excited!!!  It's been a slow process...(4.5 months post op ACL reconstruction - patellar graft) been working hard, but after my workout yesterday I decided I would do a lap around the gym.  It wasn't the first time, but the previous one's were kind of painful and almost limpy.  But yesterday I got going and gosh, I felt damn good!  I wanted to keep going for a few more laps, but am scared to overdo it, so stopped at one.   I go see my OS on Thursday and I guess I'll see if it's OK to press myself a little more.  There was a time when I didn't think I'd ever run again!!  Have a great day.  Kat

I love having you guys to tell this stuff to!!!  My hubby just looks at me and rolls his eyes when I tell him of my accomplishments!!   ::)  It's OK though.....I won't hold it against him.   ;D
He's been supportive, but hasn't ever 'been there' so he doesn't understand how it feels to have that back.  I didn't get to the gym today, so I cranked up some old disco music and did "Kat Style' aerobics right there in my living room.  I worked my quads and hammies pretty good and actually had them shaking like jello when I was done!   :P
For such a long time I questioned whether I should have done the surgery and now I really feel like I did the right thing.  I work for the USAF (as a civilian) and it's a very fitness oriented military these days and I'm looking forward to when I can get out and participate with my unit.
Thank you guys for your words of support.  I figure I can pay it forward for the next guy.
