Meniscus and ligament post op
« on: August 02, 2005, 09:18:08 PM »
General question of concern,† †???
Was operated on June 14, 2005 (left knee) for a MCL tear
30% of the meniscus was removed and feels great, however I also had a slight ligament
tear as well.† My OS tells me that this is consistent with this type of injury.
I live in Montreal, Quebec and my OS informs me that they do not operate on this type of ligament tear, since itís partial and not a full tear.† He has prescribed a series of exercise, but the pain is there all the time.† Will this type of injury heal on itís own like the OS says it will?† Has anyone experienced this type of complexityÖ are they just blowing hot air?

Which ligament did you tear?  That's very important to know.  If it was the MCL or LCL those can heal by themselves, but you have to do the PT.  This can take quite awhile.

Good Luck

Let us know how you're doing.

Hi Rozzzie,
thks for the reply... it's the MCL.. doing what my PT instructed me... however do not see a difference in my every day life..
the stiffness, when I'm sitting it's Ok, however when I start to walk it feels like arthritis and i seem to loose some strength
in my walk... it's hard to explain in words... probably will give more time and see results.

I called my OS last week and he actually got upset that i was questioning the operation?

Gabriel,

I agree with Rozzie that you need to know which one you tore. It can take quite some time.

Good luck

doctors get pissed off when you question the operation you need to see another doctor.Did you try celadrin cream it gives some relief from the pain and stiffness.
