knee won't release (relax)
« on: July 30, 2005, 03:55:08 AM »
recently playing beach vball my knee hyper-extended. No damage done, I saw a dr. however, its been a few weeks and i have been noticing how heavy and tired my knee is still felling. I was just stretching and noticed when i tense my leg, including knee, and then release (relax) my muscles, my knee remains locked (tensed up) it seems to never release. Non wonder its always so tired, it never gets to rest. has this ever happened to anyone?

any thoughts?

when I tore my ACL and did some other damage in March my knee seemed to seize up. They explained it like when you break a bone and your brain won't let the body part move because it knows it's injured. It took a while for it to calm down. Massaging it helped, but really it sounds like you need to go back to a Dr. I don't see why it would seize up for no reason.
Good luck

You may have a PCL injury or a complex tear. Meniscus damage also cannot be ruled out. You may need to see a knee specialist if it continues feeling like this.

Omg..I have the same problem!!!  I hyperextended my knee a month ago....and all that was told to me was a knee sprain and a possible tear to the meniscus.  Its horrible! it really is!

I have the same problem.  I actually have hyperextension in all of my joints, but it's never been a problem until I injured my right knee in softball.  Everytime I extend my leg or sit with it straight for a short period it lockeds and is very hard to unlock (I have to do it manually!)  My doc is still trying to figure out why so if you have any news with yours please let me know!  I would greatly appreciate it!
