worried about ACL recovery time
« on: July 26, 2005, 02:43:03 AM »
I have had numerous knee operations. My doctors want me to have another knee surgery. They want me to get my ACL repaired because right now its severed in half. I have had bad recovery experiences in the past. And I am worried that if I have the ACL surgery that it will take a very long time for me to recover. I would love to know if any of you have had ACL surgery and how long it took for you to recover to the point where you could run again or weight bare. Thanks for your time.

Hey there
I am 6 months down the track from a ACLR hamstring graft.  Im only just able to run, was walking at 6 weeks without crutches.  I lost muscle that caused my slow recovery.... genreally you can walk ok after 2 weeks and are running at 3-4 months if all goes well.  I've also had virtually no pain from my surgery.
