Help Wanted for advise on patella question
« on: July 13, 2005, 01:02:35 AM »
??? Does anyone know of an alternative to the screws and pins most doctors use? I broke my left patella and right femur bone in an auto accident in april of 04. I have pretty much reached my maximum medical improvement. I have 130 degress in both legs, but the strength in the left patella is weak to say the least. I have poor balance, cannot bend with wieght on it, cannot kneel or squat. Is this usual for these type accidents? Is there a better type surgery that can get me closer to normal? I am very happy to be walking but would one day like to play with my two teenagers as before.

thanks,
dhuff

Dhuff,

Hi, welcome to the board.  Do not think that I could answer your questions, but if you check out the Specialist Dept. - bond breaks around the knee you might get some answers to your questions.  You also might want to check out the Rehab Dept - Post-op Diary - you might find some posts there also.....

Also, are you still going to PT?  Physio and pool therapy can sure help alot to achieve mobility and strength.

Hope you can find some help in that section...

Thanks for the suggestions. I have not been to therapy in a long time. My ins. only paid for 25 visits, I already owe them a lot of $'s for the extra visits. I will definitely check our the other sites you are talking about.

thanks again,
dhuff
