Swelling after 2 months of TKR
« on: July 12, 2005, 12:24:08 AM »
Does anyone know what to do if after 2 months you are still having swelling and your range of motion is about 80 degrees.  I have tried everything from heat to ice, also I elevate my knee.  NO PAIN but I can't walk far.  My doctor is recommending another month of therapy, however I feel that therapy is not helping.  A friend recommended that I take water aerobics.  Any advice?

Hi Mom4,

Sorry you’re having problems with ROM.  You may want to look under the Arthritis section there's a section on TKR, there are people there that have recently had TKR and may be able to give you some information.

As far as water aerobics is concerned, that sounds like a good way to work you knee with the water helping to support you body and the knee.  Some members have had good success with water therapy for other knee ROM problems, so it might work, and can't hurt.

GOOD   LUCK !  !
