chrondromalacia patella symptoms HELP

i have been diagnosed with chordromalacia patella in both knees...had osgood schlatter disease as an adolescent....QUESTION....i just stand on my feet all day ...i am a nurse and my legs swell and i have such an ach in both of my knees/ and lower legs...BUT when reading symptoms of this disease i don't see anyone else mentioning that just standing on your feet all day or walking..aggrevates it...is this true and should i change my job to another part of nursing where i am not on my feet all day...OR is it just common aches and pains of the job...although my collagues don't complain and i am only 31 years old...this has been going on for last 6 years....HELP

Hi, sorry about your knee problems.  You have been diagnosed - was any treatment plan given to you?  Any medications?

Did they say what caused the chondromalacia? It is not really a diagnosis in and of itself. It just means that there are changes to the articular cartilege behind the patella. But what is causing it? This is the question you need to be asking. If they can get to the bottom of the cause, they may be able to give you more answers for treatment.

Have you seen a knee specialist or just a GP?

Hi Lindalee,
   I agree with Janet 100%.  Chondromalacia means softening of the cartilage and is a catch-all for pain under the patella.  You need to find out what is causing it and take care of the cause.  If your Dr. can't help, get another opinion.
