How to deal with screws & squatting
« on: August 22, 2002, 03:34:46 PM »
I am now almost 5 mos op from a Distal Patella Tendon Realignment with LR. I can walk w/o difficulty, have full ROM, and can do most things w/o difficulty with the exception of kneeling, squatting and crawling. I work as a firefighter/emt so those are really important for me. My PT has been GREAT!!!! The OS gave me a brace which has helped with the squatting to a degree, but not the kneeling. The screws can't come out yet, and I don't want to wait until they do to return to work. I am planning on trying a foam donut under the brace over the screws, but it will be tight. The squatting to lift though really has me concerned.

Also does anyone else have a problem with the knee buckling. I never really had a constant problem with that until after the surgery. I am told that it will go away as the knee gets stronger, but I have gotten back most of the quad strength (90%?)

Any suggestions would be great, thanks
