Hi everyone,
Just a quick update, I had my 1st check up at 3 weeks today, my plaster came off , staples taken out and touch wood ! one very stable knee. It is solid ! I am fully weight bearing still on crutches whilst I restrenghten and regain confidence,
but no brace !
Early days yet I know but for the 1st time in 4 years I have got full extension in my knee. Have got to work on flexion, this is my project for the next 3 weeks untill I see my OS again oh and also he wants me down to one crutch only by then aswell !!
So I let you know whether I have achieved it in 3 weeks !
Wish me luck and that the healing continues to go well.

Hey congratulations! Having a positive attitude really makes a difference. Work on your flexion but don't forget about your extension, it's actually more important. I didn't know it at first and I ended up going through another surgery to regain it..

Hey Tiggs !!
That sounds great, must be a relief getting out of the plaster. Hope things continue great for you.

Wow, that sounds serious -- glad to hear you are getting better!!!
Interestingely, I had a similar experience with the NHS. I had an injury and got treated as A&E -- ripped ACL, LCL, they thought my PCL was gone as well which howerver turned out to be okay. I also had a fracture in tibia plateau and ripped the biceps femoris tendon and ilio tibio band. I got transfered to Edinburgh and got operated a week after my injury (!) I had great support from the consultant and physios: 10 months after my injury I had a day out snowboarding (cautiously) and now I do quite a lot of sports again. Yesterday I had my first game of football (a full hour) -- knee was a bit sore but nothin to worry about.
So, I do hope your recovery will be go well and although your injury sounds really serious keep working on your physio (I did physio pretty much every day for 6 months and went to see a physio twice a week) that I think is the crux....
All the best,
Philip
