Advice on Anterior Knee Pain(Patellofemoral Syndrome)
« on: June 04, 2005, 07:54:37 PM »
I think I have this syndrome. I have just hiked up and down Snowdon, up was fine, but as soon as I started to go down the pain in my knees started. The pain stopped when I stopped or walked on the level. The pain was quite severe when descending. I have been cycling regularly for the past year. Can anyone suggest any remedy or exercises to alleviate this which can be easily incorporated into my daily routine? Thanks, Julie

Julie,

If you are having leg/knee pain the best thing for it is elevating & icing.  R.I.C.E - works.  As far as exercises go you could talk to a Physio Therapist to get a better idea of the exercises needed for your problem.

You might have just overdone it, but if it persists then maybe you should go to your GP and have it checked.  They can refer you to an Orthopedic Surgeon if necessary.

Good luck,

Shade

Shade,

Thanks for your advice. I'll give the RICE a go and see how it develops.

Thanks
