Hi everyone,

Just thought I write a note and let you all know how I,m getting on after surgery !
Well I have just had a complete repair of MCL, repair to LCL, artificial lig replacement of one of the bundles in the PCL as well as repair and the POL repaired plus removal of debris or scar tissue from recent ACL recon done by bone patella method and finally something done to the meniscal tibea something or other ! ( wasn,t sure what they did to that bit or what it was !!)

And guess what I dont feel too bad at all !! Dont want to get too excited or over confident but my surgeon has been fantastic. I am fully weight bearing although am still usuing 2 critches for support and am in a light plaster.
I must not do any physio for 3 weeks untill plaster comes off other than trying hard to push my knee into full extension as the previous ACL had stopped this from happening for the last year.

I am at day 7 post op and think that I am doing really well. There is some pain around my medial lig site but only if I dont get my knee into full extension other than that it feels not too bad at all.

Apparently the surgery was quite complicated and gathered quite a crowd in theatre, so I,m getting looked after quite well and have seen my consultant 3 times already, In the last 4 years I have had a lot of surgery and I have never been treated as good as this before and this is all on the NHS !!! W hat a difference it makes when you find the right Consultant (OS).

Anyway I,ve harped on long enough ! I just hope you all get the results and treatment that I have had , so far.

Good Luck to you all.

Hi Tanya, I hope you are feeling loads better.† I also wonder just how you are feeling.† Was the surgery worth it for you???† My doctor wants to do a surgery similar to the one you have had.† I need a PCL and MCL reconstruction in my right knee and I already have a reconstructed ACL in the same knee.† I am 27 years old and have been suffering with pain since I was 16.† I am a stay at home mother with two small children and I just donít know if I could fit a surgery into *THEIR* schedule, let alone my own.† This will be my 4th surgery on my right knee (sigh).
Thank you so much!

Hi ,Andy,

you asked if it were worth it! Well I think so. You know its not an easy ride after surgery and especially if you have children all I can say is that you need 100% back up from your family and friends !Mine have been fantastic.

I am feeling good, I was weight bearing srtaight away (on 2 crutches though for 3 weeks) I am down to one now and by week 9 I am meant to be off them totally !

I have been lucky ( no pain after surgery at all ) so that helps, more just an uncomfortableness.

I am noticing the difference already my knee doesn,t feel like it is going to pop out to the side when i walk, no pain, and is stable .

I had a lars ligament used on the PCL which is a synthetic one, a new and modren approach to artificail ligs which my OS  specialises in along with a complete repair of the MCL .

My quality of life was extremely poor before surgery and now I feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel and I can begin to live again. I dont expect it to be perfect as I also have spinal damage which has left me with permanent nerve damage which effects my right knee ( the bad one )ha!!

But I say go for it ( me , it was 4th time lucky maybe for you it will be 5th time )
Best of luck
