Quads pain during rehabilitation
« on: May 23, 2005, 07:32:35 PM »
Wonder if someone's had the same problem as me. I've been rehabilitating my knee after a dislocated kneecap for about 8 weeks now. Everything was going fine until I tried to do leg press. Right at the base of the quads my muscles started going into spasm when I attempted leg presses, even with no weight on the stack (which is actually 10 kg). My physio suggested that I was lifting too much, and to try and lift ankle weights. However, even when I'm not actually lifting any weights, I sometimes get the same pain and I can't actually extend my knee without the quads going into spasm. The other day I couldn't even get up the stairs, the pain was so bad. I've had suggestions about scar tissue and muscle tears, but the problem is that each time I get this pain I can't do any rehabilitation exercises for a number of days. Can anyone offer any advice?
