Doc Says I have no ACL
« on: May 20, 2005, 07:49:26 PM »
Has anybody ever heard of not having an ACL at all?  My doc reviewed the MRI after my basketball accident and is convinced I have never had one to begin with he is comparing my left knee, the injured one to my right knee and they both are equally loose.  Has anybody heard of this? :-X ???//

Thanks, Mike

Sorry, never heard of that, but recently viewed an xray of a female whose internal organs are all on the reverse side of where they normally are (like a mirror image of normality), so I guess anything is possible.

Lizy-
Maybe your taking your doc. to literally ??? he probably ment by saying 'you have no ACL' that it was compltely torn in half and there is baisicly nothing neft of it.. i was told that at first too. I doubt that mean actually means you were born with no ACL though.

Hey Smiley Thanks for the reply but he was actually saying that I had no evidence of an ACL at all this is what is concerning me because the Doc is at a loss of words.  Maybe I should get a second opinion but first was just checking if anyone has heard of this.  Thanks-Mike

I'm sure that I once read that some people are born without acls at all so their bodies must adapt to it somehow.

:)  No, lizylou, not messing with you re xray.  (And it wasn't just hung backwards.)  So, like I said, you never know how the body arranges itself, develops itself, etc. in utero and it's altogether possible your doc meant what he said:  no acl's.

hey I think anything is possible.  but I also think anytime a doc looks a bit puzzeled its best to get a 2nd opionion.  MRIs are absolutly NOT always correct.
