I am a student and am working on a project to see how and who injures their ACL.  I am looking for people between 15-22 and what I need is to gather information.  I just need your age, gender and what sport was being played at the time of injury.  I would really appreciate anyone that could send this information to me.  Thank you very much!!   Sarah

Sarah, OK, so Im a bit older now at 33, but when I origionally injured my knee I was 19, so Id imagine it will be OK for me to help.

I was 19 years old, I am female.
I was competing in a motorbike trial when I injured my knee.  I was riding from one area to another when I lost control of the back wheel.  The back end of the bike started to slide around and as it went too far around I put my right foot on the ground to steady myself (going at a fair speed at the time).  As my foot caught the ground, my knee was wrenched outwards to a right angle, causing a complete tear in my ACL, a bucket handle tear in the medial meniscus, a tear in the MCL and LCL.

Any more info please let me know.
Good luck with your project,

Heather

Sarah,

I'm a bit like Heather, older now but was only 12 when I partially tore my ACL.

12 years old, female
Wasn't playing sport but playing with a big German Shepherd Dog, running along the field, dog ran in front of me, I tried to stop but went over the dog, jarred, twisted and dislocated knee, damaged all surrounding ligaments and got partial tear of ACL.  Don't know if this will count!!

I'm 18 right now, but I've torn my ACL partially twice. However, the second time completely tore the ACL (but it only had to tear half way more to do so if that makes sense?)

I was playing basketball in 10th grade (15 yrs old) for my first day of sophomore bball tryouts when I turned around to get a rebound and heard a loud pop resulting in the completion of my ACL tear. I was also playing basketball when I was 13 and first partially tore my ACL.

If you need anything else, just let me know!
