dear lord what have i done?
« on: April 19, 2005, 10:55:01 PM »
well some of you probably read my post earlier about how painful my knee was today...and I think I have hurt it more. I was attempting to walk downt he stairs a few minutes ago and SNAP i heard a HUGE crack sounding noise. My parents were eating dinner in the kitchen and even heard it and trust me..the kitchen is far away from the staircase. Immidiate pain and ohh man the pain. Hobbled down the stairs and immediatly got some ice. Getting swollen on the inside of my left knee, and the pain is sort of just below my kneecap over to the inside of my knee. I have been and will continue doing RICE. But any idea what I may ahve done? I can just tell Ive done sokething else to it. The pain is mostly on the inside, like I said before and it hurts to straighten and I cannot walk. Just when I thought it couldnt get any worse. Please, any suggestions helpful.

Smiley196,

This is not sounding good - you had better get a call into your OS and let them know what happened.  Sorry that I can't help you with what it might be - there are so many things that come to mind like acl or meniscus - the snap & crack and swelling.

Hope you get some answers from your doctor soon.

Sending hugs your way,  ;)

Shade

I think I would rather have my OS think I was nuts than to risk not having someone looke at it.  He may want you to go to the ER to have someone look at it.    Sorry i can't tell you what you might have done but a loud snap or pop with pain and swelling does not sound good.

Sending     H u g s     and     H E A L I N G     thoughts   your way!  !  !

Hi Smiley  ;D

I think you are right to see how your knee is in the am.... it may be nothing too serious...but if you feel any instability or big pain...you ought to see your OS if it hasnt cleared up in a few days...dont panic though ;)

Hope its nothing

I read your post on pain a couple of days ago. Sounds like your knee has been building up to this!!!
It may be that something has moved position, or finally snapped after a partial tear, but either way I think a phone call to your OS wouldn't go amiss. Can't do any harm certainly.

Hope u feel better soon

You pay the OS for his advise so do not feel bad about calling him. They are used to the phone calls and wont think badly of you even it turns out that you did no further damage. That crack does not sound good.
wishing you lots of luck

Thanks guys, the pain is a bit better today but still very present. The swelling has gone down a bit with lots of ice, but it is still very red and hot with some brusing. My MOm called and got an appt. with my knee specilist on May. 5th whcih i consierably quick seeing he only works Thursdays, and is taking next week off for vacation. Thanks for all your replies. I stayed home from school today because quite frankly I didnt feel like going on crutches lol.

Krista,

Hey, glad that at least some of the swelling has gone down.  Good that your mom called and got you in for an appointment to be checked out.

Hoping all goes well,

Shade

Krista,

That is great news, much better than waiting for 6 - 8 weeks.   Thank heavens that your Mom called first thing this AM & good luck that you got a cancellation - what are the odds of that.

Here is hoping that they can find out what is going on now.

Hugs,  ;)
