lateral meniscus tear
« on: April 19, 2005, 08:47:57 PM »
I am a 47 year old runner. I've been running for 27 years, and have logged 80,000 miles, 91 marathons. I was most currently running 60 miles per week. I have a torn lateral meniscus and will have surgery in two days. I have several questions. How long before I can start running again? My doctor says 4 weeks, but I've heard stories of 2 weeks up to 6 months. Also, are my marathon days numbered, will I be able to run pain free again, will I be able to get back to 60 mile weeks? Any advise would be welcome. Feel free to reply directly to my email address of [email protected] if you like. I am very nervous about this. Thanks.  :'(
