From heathy knees to Advanced OA in < a year?
« on: April 19, 2005, 02:58:41 PM »
I had knee surgery in October 2003 after an MRI showed a small tear (to trim up the miniscus). Doc said I had a very healthy knee otherwise. Still had some pain a year later, so had it x-rayed this time. Different doc, told me the same thing. Said I maybe still had some post-op inflammation. Last week I had both knees x-rayed by the first doc (who did the surgery) and he informed me I was in the advanced stages of OA? Can this dz progress that fast? From healthy to advanced in less than a year? I have been doing all of the OTC heath remedies such as Glucosamine, haloric acid (oral), Omerga 3, etc., and don't have much knee pain anymore...unless I overdo it and stay on my feet too long. I guess I am questioning the DX this time. I thought OA was a rather slow, progressive dz? Any thoughts?

Rombo,

Hi, from what I have read, this condition can be relatively slow in some people and very rapid in other people.  http://www.healthynj.org/dis-con/arthritis/main.htm

I have also read that Ezorb Calcium has helped some people with this condition - maybe read up on it (apparently it does not have bad side effects) like some medications can have.

Here is an article that might interest you: http://www.afpafitness.com/articles/VitaCarthritis.htm

Hope that your OS continues to monitor your condition.  Good luck to you.
