Complex regional pain syndrome.

A new term really, implying a set of symptoms which cause pain in a specific area of the body and arising from a set of circumstances which are 'complex' [ ;D which means doctors really don't know what they are].

A new name for RSD, or RSDS.

Certain patients have this complication after surgery, where there is regional pain out of proportion to what seems to be going on in the body in that area. We are basically still learning about it, and some of the forum people know what I mean from first hand.
