LDL tear?
« on: April 16, 2005, 03:07:14 AM »
Late last summer while on an unusually long run for me my outer knee started to become very painful.  It feels like where my LDL would be located.  I tried running a couple weeks later and it flared up again.  I gave it 6-7 months to rest with no running and while trying a run today, it is still there, as painful or more that last year.  It hasn't hurt during any other activity except running during all these months.  Any idea what this is?  It doesn't seem to follow the normal characteristics of a LDL tear, since it is only painful during a run and for a short time afterwards, but it seems very localized in that spot.  Because it hasn't gone away after all this rest from running, I am very worried now.  What direction could I take?

I;d see a specialist for an opinion.... I thought I had a LCL tear that that is what the local MD's told me.... it wasnt till I went to a Sports Medicine specialist that he told me that I had an ACL tear, and looks like I need a reconstruction.  He said that often ACL tears and ruptures cause pain on the lateral (outside) of the knee because they run diagonally from lower knee on the medial side to the upper knee on the lateral side. After he said that, it all made sense as to why I had most pain on the lateral side and a little on the lower medial side of my knee.... Also, I can walk and operate quite normally on my injured knee (been walking around on it for 4 months), but I cant run on it or ride a bike without discomfort or a little pain.

Get it checked out I reckon

Thanks for the info, though your situation doesn't exactly sound like good news.

Anyone else have similar pain now or in the past?
