TTT delayed union?
« on: April 14, 2005, 07:34:24 PM »
Hi,
Does anyone have any information about delayed healing on the bone graft after a TTT. My daughter's surgery was on Jan 1, and the graft is still not fully healed on the distal portion. She is now using a bone stimulater while sleeping (8-10hrs a day). She is normally a very active teenager and is anxious to get back to some physical activity but we have to wait until the bone is fully healed. She does have physical therapy but she misse sher normal activities, sports, biking, running etc. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
What did the OS say as far as healing time prior to the surgery?  Which TTT procedure did she have?  Each procedure is a little bit different.  I had the Macquet procedure and the OS said it could take a year or longer for the bone to heal and fill in.  I know it is hard to stay away from the activities that you love, but she will be much better in the long run to not rush back into things!  Good luck, I hope it heals soon!
