Are there causes of crepitus, like diet, that the patient can control in order to mitigate or improve the condition?

Hi
Not really. However cod liver oil, glucosamine sulphate and good non impact exercise e.g. cycling may improve the condition. If muscle strength and support in the knee it is likely to reduce the crepitus - bus not remove it.

Crepitus while annoying isnt a big problem unless its' accomanied by pain.
I agree that working the muscles that suppor the knee joint it probably a good start, Glucosamine may help... Strengthening and Stretching are probably a good place to start. There are exercises on the main page of hte website.
