Am I Crazy?
« on: March 30, 2005, 12:34:35 AM »
Hey all. Things are going alright, well as good as possible with a bum knee  >:(. Anyway my question, am i going crazy? I can go for one day where i am so excited to have surgery (TTT) and have a good knee again, and then the very next day i will be scared of having it done, and the last thing i want to do is surgery. I mean i know 100% that i am going to get it done, but i keep having these wierd days where i get so scared and overwhelmed at the thought of it. I don't know why. I have been starting to get a list of things to do before i go in, even though i don't even have a date yet, but these seems to help and calm the nerves when i look at my list and think of more things to do. I am like a list fanatic, i make lists for everything. My OS said that if the waiting list time goes well, it will be in early to mid-may. Anyone else have days where things seem to go out of focus? Thanks for any and all input,
27 yo RN

You are totally not crazy!!!!  It is very normal to feel how you are feeling.  Before my surgery, I also had days where I thought that I was crazy to think that I was going to let them operate on me, especially since my pain was inconsistent.  And then I would have days where I just wanted to get it done and over with and move on towards recovery.  The thing that helped the most for me was to be prepared and to have a good knowledge base regarding my surgery and recovery.  I also had a long list of things that I needed to accomplish at work and at home before the surgery.  It helped to know that I would have everything in order before the surgery and would be prepared for my recovery at home.  Good luck with your surgery!!!!!

I haven't even decided whether or not to go through with my TTT and I go back and forth like that day to day. I know, though, that I will regret not doing it every "bad" day.
Good luck!

Oh absolutely, of course you are nervous and having second thoughts every other day. It's not a light decision to make, and it is a tough surgery. And the waiting is sooooooooo hard, you know....

You have a great support system here. We're all behind you.
