Second course of Synvisc
« on: March 17, 2005, 03:52:30 PM »

This to those of you out there that are about to start a course of Synvisc and have been reading about the bad reaction some people have had. I'm just starting on my second course of Synvisc some 2 years after completing the first one. That first course took place in a hospital day surgery unit and was done by a Consultant Surgeon under a local anaesthetic and gave me two fantastic years pain free. The second course is being done in the same way but without the local!  It was pain free and I've had no reaction so far. The main point I think is to make sure that you have this done by an Orthopeadic specialist who is experienced in doing it. Most GP's do not have that experience and from what I can see the skill is making sure that the fluid gets into the joint and not the soft tissue surrounding it.

good luck  :)
