What could it be??
« on: March 01, 2005, 07:07:53 PM »
Hey, i injured my knee for the first time in september 04, its now march,05. I injured it whilst skippin sideways playing football(or soccer as u may know it). I hear 2 clicks and then felt dreadful pain. Straight after i felt as if i could play on but the next day i could hardly walk. Having not injured my knee before i didnt realise it could be potentially far wore then just a knock that would keep me out for a couple of weeks. The pain didnt go away, and has got alot better since then, but i still cant skip sideways or change direction whilst running without feeling that unstability that my leg might just snap in two. Ive been to see an osteopath, in december, who told me give it 2 or 3 weeks and it should be fine. then i saw a doctor in janurary who said exactly the same thing. I have played on it since then but not on grass, only in a sports hall where the ground is flat so i dont fall down any suprise ditches!running in a straight line is fine, but any movement to the side feels awkward. i feel no pain when im walking around, altho i do feel some pain if i extend and tense my leg. it feels as though the pain is coming from underneath the patella.. can anyone give me any advice on what i can do to help it heal or perhaps if you think i need futher treatment from a doctor or physio??? Thanks for reading. Adam.

Hey !!

What doc did you see, was it an orthopedic surgeon specialized on knees ? If not I would get an appoinment to this kind of doc. This doesn't sound as it should be.

I saw an osteopath, and then i went to a minor injuries unit nearby, both said it would get better sooner rather then later, and its still been a long time and the pain hasnt gone away.

I wouldn't count on it. That's typically doctor-speak for, "I don't know what's wrong with you, but I'll look like a goof if I admit that to this patient."  Find a knee specialist ASAP.  You're describing something that will not just go away on its own.
