Had Scope need help on findings :-)..........
« on: February 22, 2005, 12:36:08 PM »
Hi all,
Just had my left knee scoped yesterday along with EUA (Examination under Anistetic). My knee feels good afterwards there is no pain just a little sore and swollen. I'm up and about walking full weight baring.

Just some background first, my left knee gives way opening up medially when playing pivoting sports......... this has happen to me numours times, and started about two years ago after a knock to the outside (Lateral side) of my knee.

I'd like some help with decrypting what the OS said to me.

- Positive Valgus test.
- Knee Cap (Patella) Sits low, maltracking possible.
- All ligaments are fine, as is menicus.

Now what they have said is that the knee cap maltracking could be causing the knee instability that i get. Thus they want to try taping my knee cap to stop this happening. From what i know this is where tape is applied around the leg to the lower patella ligamental which connects to the tibia. This will be done under physio supervision. What they said was if this had positve results then they would do a LR (Lateral Release) to fix/help the problem.

why would my patella start maltracking, never had problems before the knock ?
Would what they suggest help me, is it the right way to go ?

first of all you may have always had a maltracking problem and the knock is what started the symptoms.  Taping is a good start... i'd be warry of a LR surgery. I've had both knees done it hasn't solved my problems. That surgery is designed to correct a Lateral Tilt of the patella rather than maltracking. Just be aware...
Goodluck glad you made it through the scope alright
