Finally!
«

Finally got a letter through today from the hospital. I have been put on a waiting list and will be seen before the end of May! Will get a letter 4 weeks in advance giving me the actual date.
So my appointment will be anytime between March and May! Which is great! Because it is before my exams and most of that time I have off for holidays and exam leave!
After my first appointment, for my second appointment will I be able to choose when it is? This is with the NHS btw.
Anyone have any experiance with a Mr PM Sutton in Sheffield as well (Although he might do something in Leeds as well since it has that as his postal town)? As it appears he is going to be my consultant. And has one of the longest waiting lists which is never a bad sign.....

Good luck to you,

Great news!
At least now you have a time frame and know that it's coming up 'right around the corner'.
Good Luck, I hope they find out what the problem is and come up with a workable solution.

Yes only been 5 years since i first saw my GP about it and then they did nothing for another 5 years.........as you can imagine I have little patience right now with them so want things done fast
Thank you for all your words of encouragement.
Does anyone know if with the NHS when you get given an appointment is it with the consultant best suited for the problem? Because looking at the NHS site mine has like the second longest wait for an outpatient appointment and the longest waits for day case and inpatient surgery at my hospital. So im wondering how they choose which consultant you get really.

Hi,
Glad you've got your appointment through. My experience with NHS appointments is that you basically get what you're given. I'm in Scotland so don't know if its different up here compared to England but here we get appointments sent out in the post and can't actually choose a date ourselves. Also for your first consultation (again if its the same as here) you will be seen by whoever has space and if they can't deal with it, you might have to wait to get another appointment with another surgeon - its a total nightmare but sometimes you can be lucky first time. Why don't you phone the hospital and ask what their procedure is. Good luck.
Natalie.

I know first time we definately get seen by the consultant it has on the letter. That happenned when I broke my arm. Saw the consultant for a bit then he left it to all the other dr's. Then when they couldn't figure out what was wrong they got him back in and he sorted it in 5 mins what they couldnt for 4 weeks lol.
I'm going to my GP tomorrow if we have a snow day to get the appointment moved forward before may. She said to go see her if it was longer than 3 months. I'm getting to the point where I can't do anything. Think it might be the cold weather.

Good luck with getting your appointment moved forward. Know what you mean about the cold weather, it sure effects my knees also.
Looking forward to some nice sunny spring days - maybe that would help all our bad knees some.
Good luck,
Shade

Nah I make it worse in summer. I go "YAY NICE WEATHER LETS GO DO SPORTS". After a few mins....OW IT HURTTTTSSSSS....
Apparently no dr's in today because of the snow. We are supposed to get an extra foot on the hills round here! I live in the bottom of the valley so its only a couple of inches here. Apparently up near my school which is right next to the moors they already have a foot! Expect a post in the emergency forum now!
