Here what the seond opinion said What to do??
« on: February 21, 2005, 03:18:28 PM »
The second opinion said he saw the tear but he thought nothing of it,
Said it looked as subtle tear what the MRI technician saw. I think he just
read what they said and did not check for himself. Know he wont see any
money as I already had x-rays and MRI then they make no money off of them.
He gave me cortisone telling me it was a hamstring tendentious. Try this
and if not better he would arthoscope it to. He said by Monday I would
know if it would help. It has some but now the knee buckles and locks when
I try to walk regular. Some of the inflammation seems less but this
morning it seems more swollen. Cortisone can help for day or months. I do
not think they even know for sure. I did not like him as he either knew he
was a second opinion and figure I knew all this, but he also never did the
two tests to det ermine a tear. He just thinks the hamstring tendentious is
the pain problem. Plus I looked up on line there is no hamstring
tendentious listed. Keep you posted

What is hamstring tendonitus and any problems with cortisone shots?????

Hi Scottie,

I don't understand exactly what you've written.  What do you have a subtle tear in?  You can get hamstring tendonitis.  You can get tendonitis of any muscle that attatches to bone.  Why did the OS think that was the problem?  Did he say?  Did you ask?  Cortisone's not completely innocuous.  It can lead to weakening of cartilage or wound healing problems.  It can also help a whole lot, sometimes.  And no, there's no easy way to predict if it will help you or not without trying it.

He thinks that is the sharp apin under my knee cap, but he did not test for the medial miniscus tear the MRI showed also. The MRI techocian said suble tear in the medial meniscus.  I think he jsut read the techicians results with out doing his testing to check it out.  He also said it was hamstring tenonisitus under me kneecap not in the back of leg where you mostly have hamstring problems.  My pain is under the kneecap and around the kneecap.
