Weight gain???
« on: February 16, 2005, 10:11:01 AM »
Hi

I'm having an ACL allograft on 24th Feb and was just wondering if people noticed if they gained or lost any weight post-op?

Have people found that they comfort eat or just don't feel like eating much.

Cheers

Since all of my ortho problems started, I have lost 24 lbs. If I could just loose 10 more, I would be thrilled. Stress makes me not eat.

The first week or two I lose weight then as I get my appetite back I tend to put the weight back on again + a bit more! :-[
Everyone is different.  I easily put weight on even after eating the right stuff, but then again I easily lose the weight if I stick to a diet. ;)

I've lost weight - my appetite wasn't so great for the first few days after surgery.. I'm also trying to eat a bit better too, which seems to be helping keep it off :)

I have been off for almost a year now. I have gained a pound or two or thirty. :'( I tend to eat when I get stressed and bored. I can't really get up and exercise. My dr wants me to stay off my knee but drop a few pounds. How am I supposed to drop a few and not get any exercise? I think he's an idiot! I don't really eat a lot either.

not eating is the worst thing you can do if you want to lose weight.

I gained weight right after I intially tore my ACL.....Gained about 30lbs in a few months.  Then after I was done with the first round of PT, I went on a low Carb Diet.  Best thing I ever did!  Lost over 30lbs before my surg. this past October, without any excersie.  Then going back to PT helped after that.
