Kneecap dislocation and lazy me!
« on: February 15, 2005, 01:55:11 PM »
Im now 29 but around eight years ago whilst playing football my kneecap on my right leg dislocated and then popped back in place - this would happen every so often as i got older - until five years ago after my kneecap dislocated again (Playing football) the doctor put me in plaster for six weeks. After six weeks in plaster my leg muscles had deteriorated and after some short physiotherapy that was me.

So, five years on I have a weaker leg but yearn to get up into the hills - can I rebuild it this late on?
The joint creaks a bit as the kneecap tracking is off also.
Is it to late to do something about it?

Cheers

Hey !!

It's never too late to start pt to strenghten the muscles surrounding your joint. Maybe it can take little more time now.If you know good excercises try do them every day for along while. Otherwiese there are good excerises here if you look on this site. A good way to start might be seeing a phys for a couple of times to get feed back so you really get going with it and continue. Wish you good luck !!

It's never too late. Maybe you can go back to PT or go back to your GP or OS and get a prescription. This way you have guidance on the exercises and help if you need it.
Good luck!
